TREES PLANTED SINCE 2022
Across our towns and villages at the foot hills of the holy Mountain Arunachala, many elderly men and women are living, sometimes simply abandoned, their final years in silent suffering, poverty, with no income, no medical care, and no one to stand by them. After a lifetime of sacrifice for their families, only a few can age with dignity, while countless others face neglect, mistreatment, or even abandonment — left lonely, sick, and forgotten. Your support can help us create a safe and compassionate home where they are cared for, respected, and reminded that they are not alone.
To look after elderly people with the utmost care and empathy in a pleasant atmosphere, enabling them to lead a happy and peaceful life until their final journey.
To ensure that every resident of AECH lives with respect and dignity in a secure, compassionate, and friendly environment where they feel valued and protected.
To provide companionship and emotional support that helps residents overcome social isolation and experience a sense of belonging and emotional well-being.
To ensure adequate nourishment, clothing, and all other essential daily necessities that contribute to the comfort and well-being of every resident.
To provide timely and quality healthcare for destitute elderly residents while promoting awareness of health, hygiene, and healthy living practices to improve their overall quality of life.
Our Education Programmes are built on the Vision and Values of the Founders of the Shanthimalai Trust, Dr. Hugo and Anne Maier:
We strive to transform the lives of underprivileged children by providing a holistic development space beyond academic performance, nurturing their well-being at a physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual level. The key to development is “Help for Self-Help”.
Promote physical, mental and social well-being and life skills that help individuals lead healthy, happy and meaningful lives.
Encourage curiosity, creativity and awareness through continuous learning opportunities.
Build confidence, leadership and self-expression through positive engagement.
Environment, waste management, energy, and water are not given much attention by the population. With devastating consequences. Shanthimalai Trust launched the “Environment Care” programme in 2022 and provided 45 lakhs for its development.
This initiative is fully aligned with local authorities and decision-makers for stronger impact: clean roads, clean water, wider use of solar energy are the “simple goals”.
Says environmental engineer Dr. Rajasekar: “We want to pull out all the stops I learned in my many years of experience in the Indian waste and energy industry. Even if it is a mammoth task at first, we can change things for the better with combined strength. Because love for God also means love for the environment.”
Planting and growing thousands of trees, cultivation of land, thus lessening the negative impact on ecosystems and biodiversity in the community.
Promotion of natural farming, aqua culture, agro forestry, livestock, and biogas generation using organic menure to improve soil fertility.
Convert waste into use. Reduce, recycle, reuse. Aligned with municipalities, industry, NPOs and the private sector for effective implementation.
Promotion of alternative energy, water augmentation and conservation, a herbal park to save herbs from extinction.

We believe that timely support can transform lives. The Direct Help Programme was established to respond to the urgent needs of poor and vulnerable individuals and families facing medical emergencies, financial hardship, loss of livelihood, and other unforeseen crises. Through a transparent assessment process and community-based approach, we provide compassionate assistance that restores dignity, brings hope, and helps people regain stability during life's most challenging moments.
To provide timely support to individuals and families experiencing serious hardship, crisis, or emergency situations.

To ensure that individuals facing difficult circumstances are treated with respect and dignity while receiving support that restores hope, confidence, and stability.
Education is the foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty and creating lasting change. Through our Sponsorship Programme enables children from economically disadvantaged families to access quality education, empowering them to build brighter futures. Since establishing Sri Ramana Maharshi Matriculation and Higher Secondary School in 1994 and Sri Sundaram Alagammal Nursery and Primary School in 2010, we have supported over 20,000 students. Today, around 860 children from kindergarten to Grade 12 continue their educational journey, with nearly half receiving sponsorship assistance. Beyond academics, we nurture equality, respect, creativity, and holistic development through inclusive learning and our Montessori approach.
To provide quality education for children from economically disadvantaged families, ensuring that financial hardship does not prevent them from learning.
To empower children through education, enabling them to build brighter futures while improving the economic stability of their families.
To foster an environment where every child is treated with equality, respect, and inclusiveness, regardless of caste, religion, or socio-economic background.
To nurture children's intellectual, emotional, social, and creative abilities through child-centred learning and personality development.
To encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence, and strong moral values that prepare children to become responsible, compassionate, and self-reliant members of society.
Since 2004, the Skill Development Programme has empowered rural youth by providing access to higher education, skill enhancement, and career opportunities. Reaching more than 40 villages across Tiruvannamalai District, the programme supports students who face financial and social barriers to continuing their education. Through educational sponsorship, career guidance, English and computer training, mentoring, and employability development, we have helped over 2,800 students build successful futures. By investing in the potential of young people, we create lasting change that benefits not only individuals but also their families and communities.
